About this tour

Visiting Kazakhstan is a journey into a land of vast, unspoiled landscapes, rich culture, and fascinating history. As the largest landlocked country in the world, Kazakhstan offers a mix of steppes, deserts, snow-capped mountains, and modern cities.

Begin your adventure in the capital, Astana (Nur-Sultan), a futuristic city known for its impressive architecture like the Bayterek Tower and the Khan Shatyr entertainment center. The city’s unique blend of modernity and tradition is a symbol of the country’s rapid development.

Almaty, the former capital, is another must-visit destination, nestled at the foot of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains. The city is vibrant, with lush parks, cafes, and proximity to breathtaking nature. From here, visitors can explore Medeu, a high-altitude ice-skating rink, and the beautiful Shymbulak ski resort.

Kazakhstan is also rich in natural wonders. The Charyn Canyon, often compared to the Grand Canyon, offers dramatic views and exciting hiking trails. For a more serene experience, visit the serene Lake Kaindy, known for its submerged forest, or the vast steppe landscapes of the Altyn Emel National Park.

Culturally, Kazakhstan is a mix of nomadic traditions and Soviet influence. You can experience the ancient customs by visiting a traditional yurt, tasting local dishes like beshbarmak (a meat and noodle dish), and watching a performance of horseback riding skills. The country’s people are known for their warm hospitality, making visitors feel welcome.

Kazakhstan’s size and diversity mean every visit can be unique—whether you’re drawn to its bustling cities, quiet villages, or stunning natural scenery. It’s a country that surprises and delights at every turn.

A Brilliant Trip

We have been on a couple of cycling trips before and this one was probably the best. Tri our guide was outstanding and all our fellow cyclists were a great bunch of people. We got a real flavour of life in Vietnam. Lots of interesting food. The meals were good and plentiful. Thought we would lose weight but didn't! Good Hotels. Many highlights but a couple or so to point out,Whale Island and Hoi An, the 30km exhilarating downhill ride and cycling in city centre traffic...... great fun but leaves your heart racing. It is quite full on which leaves you wanting to spend more time in some of the places visited. The usual pattern is arrive at 5 - 6 pm, leave at 7.15 next morning. However we did find time to swim in the hotel pools. Overnight train was great fun ....all part of the adventure. To cover the length of the country there are some longish times in the bus but the bus was comfortable but great chance to talk with your fellow travellers. This also gives you time to see more of the country and people watch. Staggered us how much could be piled on a scooter! The bikes were ideal for the road conditions as well as being clean and very well maintained. At the frequent refreshment/rest stops there was lots of juice, water, fruit, nuts and biscuits. The driver and bike mechanic were very friendly and very competent. Great organization, things happened when Tri said they would.
